Emilie Beck

Emilie Beck is from the quaint island of Nøtterøy in Tønsberg. Following a year of studying photography in California, she continued on to a Bachelor of Arts in documentary film making at Norway’s most prominent film school, Inland Norway University of Applied Science, in the department of Audiovisual Media and Creative Technologies. In 2020 Emilie completed her Masters Degree in fiction directing, with a focus in series formats, at The Norwegian Film School. Emilie has been making short films since her early twenties, within both fiction and non-fiction, which have been shown around the world. Her work focuses on the causes she is most passionate about, including women’s rights and other grey zone issues. In addition to her experience behind the camera, Emilie has appeared in front of the camera as the host of the web series, “Stuck”, on Aftenposten-TV. The series was nominated for the Gullruten Award in 2017, and sparked conversations around female empowerment. Having acted since a young age, Emilie brings this experience in to her work as a director, where she excels at directing talent, character development and building relationships in her films. Emilie is currently directing commercial work, developing a TV-series, and launching her first feature length documentary with NRK in 2021.
